Black History Month is set aside to honor the many valuable contributions that African American women and men have made to this nation.

This month, and throughout the year, NJEA’s more than 200,000 members remember and reflect on our shared history and pledge to work together for a fair and just future for all of our students, their families and the communities in which we live and serve together.

As a union dedicated to racial, social and economic justice, and with a profound commitment to the value of education, we pledge today and always to learn from the past in order to help build a better future.
